Don’t Pitch Your Tent Just Yet
God Has So Much More in Store
Beloved Friend,
Last week, I had one of those quiet moments where God gently reminded me of something humbling. I looked back at some of the things I used to pray so earnestly for, and I realized how small they were in comparison to what He’s blessed me with now. It wasn’t to shame me, no, it was His way of whispering, “There’s more.” A loving nudge to not limit Him to what I can currently see or imagine.
So as a new week begins, I want to pass that reminder on to you too. Don’t settle. Don’t pitch your tent in places God only meant you to pass through. Don’t convince yourself that “this is all there is” when God is still writing your story.
Sometimes we look around and say, “Well, this isn’t bad. I’ll just manage.” Or we start to feel guilty for wanting more: more clarity, more growth, more opportunities, more of God’s hand in our lives. But here’s the truth: God delights in lifting us, and His plans are not limited by what we can currently see. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
There is always more with God.
Think about Abraham. God told him to leave his father’s house and go to a land He would show him. Abraham didn’t even have the full picture, but he left. If he had stayed where it was comfortable, he would have missed the inheritance God was leading him into. And guess what? Even when Abraham settled at certain points, God would appear again and remind him, “Lift up your eyes. Look further. There’s still more” (Genesis 13:14–15).
Or consider the Israelites. They were delivered from Egypt, yet many of them were content to stay in the wilderness. They grumbled, looked back, and even preferred slavery because it was familiar. But God didn’t just bring them out; He was bringing them into something: a land flowing with milk and honey. Not a land of “just enough,” but one of abundance. Sadly, many never entered because they couldn’t see beyond their now.
And let’s not forget the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. The one who hid his one talent didn’t realize that faithfulness isn’t about playing it safe, it’s about trusting that God is a rewarder. “To everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance” (Matthew 25:29). So yes, be grateful for what you have, but never mistake “little” as the limit of God’s generosity. He’s looking for hearts that won’t cling to crumbs when He’s setting a table.
The mindset that says “this is enough, I don’t want to expect too much” may sound like humility, but often, it’s just fear in disguise. Or fatigue. Or disappointment. Sometimes we settle because we’re tired of hoping. But friend, don’t let weariness write the end of a story God is still unfolding.
God doesn’t just give us good things to tease us; He gives them as previews of what’s to come. The peace you’ve tasted? There’s more. The impact you’ve made? There’s more. The joy you’ve experienced? There’s deeper joy ahead. “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day” (Proverbs 4:18).
So this week, let your heart stretch again.
Ask. Seek. Knock.
Don’t apologize for wanting more when your Father delights in giving more.
Don’t cling so tightly to what is that you miss what could be.
Don’t stop at the gate when there’s an entire garden ahead.
God is not a halfway God. He doesn’t tease you with glimpses of glory just to leave you hanging. He invites you to trust again, to hope again, and to move forward, not because what you have now isn’t good, but because He is good and He has more.
You were made for more.
Don’t settle. Don’t shrink. Don’t stop.
Keep walking. Keep trusting. Keep your eyes up.
With thoughts of kindness,
ABBA’s Shofar
