Faith Is the Flex
It’s not just about getting results. It’s how we say, “God, I rate You.”
Beloved Friend,
Lately, I’ve been brooding on something that has quietly stirred my heart; the way faith honors God.
We often talk about faith like it’s a key to unlock blessings, a necessary step to getting what we need from God. And while there’s truth in that, yes, faith does bring results; that’s not its highest expression. Faith, at its core, is an act of honor. It is how we esteem God.
“Those who honor Me, I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed” (1 Samuel 2:30). Though spoken in a different context, the principle rings true; how we treat God matters. And faith is one of the deepest ways we treat Him with reverence.
Faith says, “God, I trust You not because I see the answer, but because I see Your character.”
It says, “I may not understand the timing, but I understand Your nature.”
It says, “Even when nothing around me looks like Your promise, I still believe You are who You say You are.”
That is honor.
Sometimes, I imagine God as a faithful parent, showing up every single year without fail for their child’s birthday; cake in hand, joy on their face, only for the child to, one year, start fidgeting and doubting: “Mummy, will you come this year?”
You’d almost feel a pinch in your heart and wonder, “Have all the other years meant nothing to you?”
That’s how we often treat God. He’s shown Himself faithful again and again, but at the slightest delay, we panic. We question. We wonder if He’s still with us. But friend, He has never missed a moment. He has never dropped His Word.
Faith honors God because it acknowledges His track record. It shows that we’ve paid attention, that we recognize His consistency, that we don’t take Him lightly.
It’s no wonder that when Jesus saw faith, He marveled. He celebrated it. The Roman centurion who said, “Just say the word,” didn’t just get healing for his servant, he received commendation from the King of Kings. His faith honored Jesus, and Jesus honored his faith.
But when the Israelites doubted, after seas had parted and manna had fallen, God was grieved. It wasn’t just their fear; it was their disregard for everything He had done. They reduced His faithfulness to a moment of discomfort. That’s what lack of faith does: it dishonors God. It paints Him as unreliable. It treats Him like man.
Yet here’s the beauty of our Father: even the things we give Him end up serving us far more.
We honor Him with faith, and He honors us in ways we never imagined. We give Him trust, and He gives us peace. We stand firm in belief, and He steadies our steps. In honoring Him, we become more rooted, more grounded, more unshakeable. What a God.
So this is your gentle nudge today; not just to believe for results, but to believe because He’s worthy of your trust.
Let faith be your way of saying, “God, I honor You. I believe You. I esteem You above my circumstances.”
Let your trust in Him rise, not just to move mountains, but to move His heart.
Because faith isn’t just about getting what you want. It’s about giving God what He deserves — your confidence, your reverence, your unwavering trust. And in doing that, you’ll find that faith gives you far more than you ever imagined.
This week, let your faith be a song of honor. A declaration that your God is not just able, but worthy.
With thoughts of kindness,
ABBA’s Shofar
