The Seeds We Sow
Guard Your Heart, Guard Your Life.
Beloved Friend,
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the subtle choices we make each day. You’ve likely heard the scripture that says, “those who sow of the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption” (Galatians 6:8). But what does it really mean to sow of the flesh? The truth is, it’s easier than we think, and often, it sneaks up on us in the most subtle ways.
It can start with something as simple as subscribing to a YouTube channel that doesn’t edify or nurture your spirit. Maybe it’s listening to music that isn’t outright harmful, but it slowly broods on your heart, planting seeds of lust or pride. We indulge, just for a moment, telling ourselves it’s harmless. But what happens next? We slowly drift away from the original mark. Before long, we find ourselves asking, “How did I get here?”
This slow drift is how we begin to reap the fruit of corruption. What started as a small indulgence can snowball into full-blown disconnection from God. The lust of the flesh and the pride of life (1 John 2:16) are not always loud and obvious—they are often small, seemingly insignificant things that chip away at our spiritual foundation.
Scripture warns us to be vigilant: “Let he who thinks he stands take heed lest he falls” (1 Corinthians 10:12). We can’t afford to take breaks in our Christian journey. You can’t listen to a bit of ‘junk’ music or watch an unhealthy show and expect to walk away unscathed. The spiritual fruits that develop from entertaining such spirits are not the kind you want to harvest. Before you know it, you’re gasping for spiritual revival, wondering why your soul feels parched.
Remember, our adversary, the devil, is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). He’s cunning and patient, waiting for us to let our guard down, even if just for a moment.
So, I urge you, Beloved Friend, let’s be careful what we sow into our lives. Be wary of what you consume—whether it’s media, conversations, or even thoughts. Sowing in the Spirit leads to life everlasting, but sowing in the flesh only leads to corruption. Let’s strive daily to feed our spirits with what brings growth, peace, and strength in Christ.
With thoughts of kindness,
