Unveiling El-roi- The God who sees me
Finding God's Presence in Solitude and Struggle
Beloved Friend,
Ever pondered on the notion that for all the years you’ve walked this earth, you’ve been reminded that God is watching? It's like having a hidden CCTV camera capturing every move, every step – both in the open and in the secret corners of your life. But here's the thing: instead of feeling constantly monitored and afraid, let's shift our perspective to something truly wonderful.
You’ve most likely heard that God is watching you, God sees you and knows every move you make. We’re even told this as a sermon to keep us wary of the things we give ourselves to or whatever we do in secret cause there’s a God who sees all. We’re made to see God as someone to be likened to a hidden CCTV camera that watches our every move and the fact that God sees us which is supposed to bring comfort to our hearts leaves us feeling afraid and walking on eggshells.
Oh, He does see us! He sees our every move, knows every step we take both in the open and in the secret. And rather than focus solely on the aspect that leaves you overly conscious and afraid, let's take a moment to explore a different facet, a truly remarkable aspect.
Remember Hagar, who in her desperation encountered God and called Him El-Roi, the God who sees? Her story reminds us that God's sight goes beyond mere observation; it delves into the depths of our struggles, our relentless efforts to please Him, and our perseverance in the face of adversity.
In the depths of our struggles, when we falter in our attempts to please Him, God sees the resilience within us. He witnesses our moments of failure, yet He also sees our determination to rise again, to dust ourselves off, and to try once more. In the hustle of our businesses and careers, when it feels like our efforts go unnoticed by others, God is there, recognizing every ounce of dedication we pour into our work.
In the quieter realm of our personal struggles and efforts, it often feels like our endeavors go unnoticed by those around us. Despite our best attempts to nurture friendships or relationships, it can seem like no one truly comprehends the extent of our efforts.
Yet, in these moments, when it appears that no one sees or understands our intentions, we find solace in the knowledge that God, who searches the depths of our hearts, perceives every ounce of our dedication and sincerity. He sees the perseverance in our attempts to maintain connections and the resilience in our commitment to Him, even amidst constant misunderstanding.
In His omniscience, God recognizes the sincerity behind our actions, offering comfort and validation when human recognition falls short. So, even when it feels like no one else notices or understands, we can take heart in knowing that God sees and appreciates every effort we make to stay afloat and to give our best in relationships and in our faith journey.
Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Friend, in the midst of your struggles, it's comforting to remember that God's presence is with you, even in the most challenging times. Just as David found solace in God's presence during his trials, you too can find strength and comfort in knowing that God is always by your side, guiding you through every difficulty and misunderstanding.
So, as we navigate the ups and downs of faith and life generally, we can lean on God's unfailing presence to sustain us and bring us peace.
Stay prayed up, rooted in the Word, and continue being a beacon of light until I come your way again.
With thoughts of kindness,
Abba’s Shofar.

Thank you for this comforting piece. May heavens continue to increase your wisdom
